Dr. Paulo Malo was the first to successfully treat a patient with the All-on-4 technique in 1998. Since then, thousands of patients have been treated with this concept.
All-on-4 is a surgical technique that consists of placing a fixed arch dental prosthesis in the upper and/or lower jaw through 4 implants. Unlike traditional implants that use 8 or more.
If the the upper arch has low bone density, 6 dental implants are needed to achieve the suport necesary for the prosthesis, then the treatment is called All-on-6.
What makes it different from traditional dental implants?
Rehabilitation of the complete arch with only four implants. Better implant distribution with two straight implants in the front and two inclined up to 45 degrees in the back.
Immediate function. Eliminates the need of removable prosthesis, increasing function and comfort the day of the surgery.
Procedure without grafts. Bone grafting is avoided by tilting the posterior implants using the available bone, decreasing morbility, healing periods and waiting time for the final prosthesis to be placed.
What are the benefits of the All-on-4 concept?
Fast improvement of the quality of life: having a complete fixed arch prosthesis the day of surgery leads to a greater patient satisfaction in terms of function, aesthetics, sensation, speech and self-esteem.
Shorter treatment times: The inclination of the posterior implants avoids the need for slow bone grafting procedures, while the immediate loading shortens the time to the placement of the teeth.
Lower cost: the concept is the one with the lowest cost compared to conventional modalities of treatment with fully edentulous and potentially edentulous jaw implants.
